GLCU’s AI assistant “Olive” now offering support in Spanish

Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is excited to announce that Olive, GLCU’s virtual assistant powered by artificial intelligence (AI), is now offering bilingual support in Spanish.

Olive is available 24/7 by phone and online chat, and can help members check account balances, transfer money, make loan payments, and more.

Now that Olive can speak and understand Spanish, she can better serve GLCU’s diverse membership base. This enhancement comes as the credit union was granted the “Juntos Avanzamos” designation, signaling its commitment to serving Hispanic and immigrant communities.

“At GLCU, we’re committed to providing state-of-the-art technologies and solutions to help members succeed on their financial journeys. With Olive’s new bilingual capabilities, she will help us financially empower our Spanish-speaking members,” said Elizabeth Osborne, Chief Operations Officer at GLCU. “And, as members interact with Olive, she will continue to learn and improve member service in both English and Spanish.”

Since joining the GLCU team in August 2023, Olive has been assisting members and streamlining their banking experience. For example, Olive features voice authentication for seamless account access and uses an advanced generative AI large language model to more effectively communicate with members.

Olive’s advancements and improvements are the latest of GLCU’s investments in cutting-edge technologies intended to enhance member experience. This past November, GLCU partnered with Access Softek to provide an online account opening solution to members. GLCU is also an investor in the Curql fund, through which the credit union invests in a variety of fintech solutions aimed at improving business outcomes and member experience.
