Mountain Credit Union (MCU) held its annual Tee it Up for Diabetes Golf Tournament on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, and the event was a tremendous success. After a day of perfect weather and outstanding community support, MCU proudly announced a donation of $12,000.00 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF is the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes (T1D) research whose mission is to accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications.
The tournament, held at the picturesque Springdale Resort in Cruso, NC, drew a record number of players and sponsors. Key winners of the day included teams from WNC Billiards, LLC. of Waynesville, NC and Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort for low gross scores, along with Diesel Power Truck Center of Candler, NC and Ken Wilson Ford of Canton, NC (not pictured) for low net scores.
Brooke Mize, Development Director of the North Carolina Chapter for JDRF, expressed her gratitude, stating, "We are incredibly thankful to Mountain Credit Union and all the participants of the Tee it Up for Diabetes Golf Tournament. Their generous donations over the years have topped the $70,000.00 mark and have significantly advanced our mission to find a cure for Type 1 diabetes and improve the lives of those affected by the disease."
