Waverly, VA (May 13, 2024) |
The Town of Waverly in collaboration with Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union, invites you to celebrate the culmination of the Waverly Community Business Launch Business Plan Competition. Join us on Thursday, May 30, at 5:30 pm, hosted at the Jessica A. Moore Foundation located at 408 School Street in Waverly, Virginia.
Over the past two months, five dedicated participants have engaged in an 8-week business bootcamp facilitated by Peoples Advantage Federal Credit Union. Throughout the program, attendees were equipped with essential skills in small business management, identifying their market, and profitability strategies for their business ventures. The business planning process empowers both existing and aspiring entrepreneurs to evaluate and strengthen their business concepts and assists them with developing stronger business plans, laying a solid foundation for success.
This celebration is a “Shark Tank” style, featuring juried pitch presentations, culminating in grants up to $15,000 for the most compelling pitch and well-crafted business plan. Generous funding for these awards is made possible through a grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as part of their Community Business Launch initiative.
The winners will not only address local economic needs but will also demonstrate enthusiasm and adaptability in navigating the evolving business landscape of downtown Waverly. The program is geared toward, but not exclusively for, retail businesses or other storefront-type enterprises and serves to build the local tourism industry and/or businesses that involve small-scale manufacturing and sale of local products, or other items.
