The Texas A&M Memorial Student Center Council (MSC) honored Aggieland Credit Union’s Jason McPhee with the Charles W. Plum Distinguished Service Award.
Since joining Aggieland in 2021, McPhee has actively worked with students in the MSC, providing professional development and personal financial workshops to help them both individually and professionally. He also provides job opportunities to students, serves as a mentor, and has taken an active role in making the annual MLK Breakfast a larger part of the MSC community.
The Charles W. Plum Distinguished Service Award recognizes Texas A&M faculty members or non-student supporters who demonstrate dedication to the achievement of MSC goals and to the spirit of the MSC.
This is the 40th anniversary for the award. It is given in honor of Plum, a beloved professor who joined the university faculty in the 1970s. He taught accounting for non-business majors and served as a member of the MSC Council and Directorate where he volunteered and shared his expertise and mentored students.
“Jason has been an integral partner for both the MSC and MSC Woodson Black Awareness Committee,” said Deryle Richmond, Associate Director, Memorial Student Center, Texas A&M University. “His passion and desire to help students succeed and efforts to make the MSC a stronger organization reflects the character of Plum and embodies the values of the MSC and A&M as a whole.”
Richmond added, “We are grateful for Jason’s involvement in the MSC and how he models leadership by being an active part of our students’ development and growth here at A&M.”
