EAST LANSING, Mich (March 19, 2024) |
More than 600 people got off on a good foot for a good cause Sunday, March 17, at the headquarters campus of MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU), raising $62,708 during the annual Run for the House benefitting the Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan. The funds raised and support provided this year rank among the highest achievements in the history of the event.
The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan offers a comfortable, inexpensive, and private place for families to sleep, eat, and relax while a child is being hospitalized or receiving treatment at Lansing-area hospitals and clinics. Families find a caring atmosphere where they can receive strength and encouragement from others who are also going through difficult times.
MSUFCU served as Champion Sponsor of the 2024 event in East Lansing.
“We appreciate MSUFCU’s support, including hosting this fundraiser on its campus trails,” said Carolyn Hurst, Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan Executive Director. “This event makes a difference for families of seriously ill children by helping to provide a home away from home.”
Run for the House offered both in-person and virtual sign-up options. Participants were able to complete a 5K run/walk, 10K run, or the new 10K ruck with weighted vests or backpacks. Kids under age 12 challenged one another in a 1-mile fun run and sprint. Those who took part virtually had from March 15-17 to complete and register an any-distance race at their own pace.
“Hosting the Run for the House has become one of our favorite events,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, MSUFCU Vice President of Community Impact. “It’s an easy, safe, and fun way to welcome runners, walkers, and volunteers to MSUFCU’s headquarters campus while supporting the impactful work the House provides to our community.”
The 2024 race results can be viewed on the sign-up website.
