CCCU accepting applications for Smart Start Scholarship recipients

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (March 12, 2024) |

Clark County Credit Union (CCCU) will award ten scholarships with its annual Smart Start Scholarship, created to help credit union members realize their financial goals and dreams through education. CCCU members (or their children) who meet eligibility requirements and are students who are enrolled in an accredited university, will have the opportunity to be awarded one of ten $1,000 scholarships.

“Financial stability for young people is important,” said CEO Matt Kershaw. “We’re happy to provide this scholarship to help them get a little closer to their education and future career goals.”

The scholarship is open to CCCU members (or their children) who are in good standing with the credit union and are graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled in a state-accredited college or university for both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The winners are selected based on academics and other activities as well as an essay responding to this year’s writing prompt: Recent reports have shown housing inequality impacts over 3.5 million young adults aged 18-25 across the nation. In what ways do you anticipate adjusting your money and spending habits to account for the changing economy? Will education impact your ability to combat this inequality personally, for your family or both?
