Winners announced for the 2024 MSUFCU Student Art Exhibit

More than 15,000 votes cast on 143 works of art by students from 17 area high schools

MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) today announced the winners of the 2024 MSUFCU Student Art Exhibit and honored all who competed during a special awards ceremony at MSUFCU headquarters in East Lansing, Michigan. This year’s event featured 143 pieces of art by young, local artists from 17 mid-Michigan high schools that received more than 15,000 votes from community members both online and in person.

“The response to this year’s MSUFCU Student Art Exhibit was nothing short of amazing,” said Arianna Ridderbusch, MSUFCU Vice President of Community Impact. “A record number of votes were received celebrating the creativity of our young, local artists. We would like to congratulate the winners and thank all who participated.”

Juried Awards

  • First place — Entry #31: untitled by Amy Lee, senior at Okemos High School
  • Second place — Entry #35: untitled by Seoeun (Sarah) Lee, senior at Okemos High School
  • Third place — Entry #126: “Rose-Colored Glasses” by Ellery Curtis, junior at Grand Ledge High School

People’s Choice Awards

Social Award

  • Winner — Entry #81: “Loss” by Lena Anzaldua, junior at Haslett High School

School Spirit Award

  • Mason High School

The Juried Awards were selected by a panel of three local art experts: Melina Brann, Benjamin Duke, and Ryan Holmes. The People’s Choice Awards and School Spirit Award were determined by votes from the public, cast both in person at MSUFCU headquarters and online at the exhibit’s website. The Social Award was given to the student artwork that gained the most “likes” on the exhibit’s Facebook and Instagram channels.

First-place winners received $300, second-place artists received $200, and third-place honorees were given $100. The first-place Juried Awards artwork will be displayed on an Arts Council of Greater Lansing billboard. The Social Award winner received $50, and each of the Juried Awards category Honorable Mention recipients were given $25.

The MSUFCU Student Art Exhibit was sponsored by 517 Magazine and featured the artwork of students from 17 mid-Michigan high schools from Jan. 28 through Feb. 23. To learn more about this year’s winners and to view the artwork, visit msufcuart.com.
