Scott Credit Union has announced plans to move its East Belleville Branch in 2019 to a new location that will allow for its continued growth in St. Clair County.
The credit union recently purchased the former Commerce Bank building at 2020 N. Belt East next to Belleville East High School.
“We surprised our staff with a ‘field trip’ to the new location recently,” said Scott Credit Union President & CEO Frank Padak. “They didn’t know anything about the plan so it was a complete surprise. The employees’ reaction was overwhelming excitement.”
Scott Credit Union representatives will take about six months to complete improvements to the 17,616 square-foot building before relocating its current East Belleville location, which is now at 648 Carlyle Avenue.
“We look forward to serving our Belleville members and attracting new members with this new branch office,” Padak added. “The new location will allow us room for expansion. It is two stories and has a finished basement.”
Along with the branch staff, SCU will relocate about 20 employees in the credit union’s training and information technology departments to the building.
“This move is an example of our continued focus on our Illinois market and, in this case, specifically our membership in St. Clair County,” he added.
The new SCU branch will feature a traditional teller line, plenty of office and meeting space, as well as five drive up lanes and a lane for a 24-hour, drive up ATM.
“The building will help us better serve our membership in Belleville, and will afford us some additional space for staff in the future,” Padak noted.
