Community Resource Credit Union breaks ground on new corporate headquarters

Community Resource Credit Union (CRCU) conducted a groundbreaking ceremony today for its future, corporate headquarters building. The development project is located on seven acres near the intersection of Rollingbrook Drive and Emmett Hutto Boulevard in Baytown.

The groundbreaking ceremony included remarks from Stephen DonCarlos, City of Baytown Mayor, and Tracy Wheeler, Baytown Chamber of Commerce President, and a proclamation from State Representative Brisco Cain’s office. In attendance were the CRCU Board of Directors, several elected officials, dignitaries, and special community guests.

The planned 35,000 square foot, two-story, future CRCU corporate headquarters building is expected to accommodate approximately 75 employees — with the capacity for up to 129 employees — once constructed in late 2019. The new facility will house the credit union’s multiple internal departments including Loan Central and Credit Resolution, Operations, Marketing, Facilities, Human Resources, Risk Management, Accounting, and Training. In addition, the planned structure will provide Executive Management office spaces, an executive board room, numerous conference rooms, and provide space for the new CRCU Call Center currently housed in Crosby. In addition — collaboration spaces, conference rooms, and a 1,500-square-foot employee multipurpose room with full kitchen — will allow space for meetings and for employees to recharge throughout the day.

The future CRCU campus plan includes an additional building consisting of a 30,000 square-foot structure, totaling 65,000 square feet for the future campus. A covered walkway will ultimately connect the two buildings.

“Breaking ground for this new corporate headquarters comes with a great deal of excitement,” said David Frazier, CEO and President of CRCU. “This is much more than a new building. For our members and the staff of CRCU, it’s about positioning our credit union for future growth, meeting expanding community needs and keeping things local, right here in Baytown.”

Frazier also extolled the virtues of the innovative plan designs. “NewGround, a leading design and construction firm for financial institutions, created the architectural plans in order to ensure form follows function,” Frazier explained. “Even with multiple private offices planned for the interior of the building, the entire building was designed to maximize sunlight and allow all spaces to be light and bright. It’s just one of the ways the relaxed, ample and bright space will be conducive to productivity for everyone.”
