Great Lakes Credit Union donates $10,000 to employees’ 2017 charities of choice

Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is proud to give back to the community and offer help to those who need it most. In 2017, GLCU’s employees voted in favor of supporting two local charities, CASA Lake County and Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

Throughout the course of the year, GLCU employees and members collected clothing, toiletries, and raised $10,000 to share with both charities! Funds were raised through GLCU’s partnership with the Chicago Wolves’ Score for Charity program and a pledge to match $1.00 for each new member who joined the credit union.

"This is a big deal. You're donating a large sum of money that will help our charity help as many veterans in need as we can! Thank you, Great Lakes Credit Union!" - John Dixon, Freedom Commissary Coordinator, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.

Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans’ mission is to ensure that no veteran is left behind due to homelessness, joblessness, poverty and/or mental-health issues. Their desire is to ease suffering for veterans and their families and to empower veterans to become productive members of their communities. You can learn more about what they do at helpaveteran.org.

"Your donation will have a big impact in the lives of children in Lake County. Thank you, Great Lakes Credit Union for your incredible and generous donation!" - Terri Greenburg, Executive Director, CASA Lake County.

CASA Lake County exists to promote and protect the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected. They do this by training volunteers to advocate for them in courts, in schools and in our community to help them find safe, permanent and loving homes. Visit their site at casalakecounty.com.
