Music can be a powerful tool with the ability to bring together diverse groups of people, and that’s exactly what PSCU’s Rockovate program has accomplished. Rockovate, with its tagline of “Band Together,” blends rock music and innovation, all in the spirit of team building, diversity and inclusion. Upon its formation, Rockovate hit the ground running. It was so popular that the group actually split up into two different bands. Now entering its fourth season, the bands consist of 40 members from 18 PSCU departments that routinely come together to collaborate and make music.
Myles Bristowe, VP of Marketing Strategy at PSCU and one of the collaborators for the program, turned to a music video game titled Rocksmith to help him learn how to play the guitar. Before he knew it, Rockovate was not only performing on the PSCU campus for internal employee events, but also at other nearby locations for fundraisers and raffles.
Bristowe recently decided to share his experience by entering a contest run by Rocksmith for the chance to perform live at the legendary Slim’s stage in San Francisco, Calif. Bristowe was selected as one of this year’s winners and will be performing live today, Oct. 20 as part of Rocksmith’s 5th Anniversary Concert.
