Rating Website Names Top 10 in the Nation, Top 2 are from Des Moines, IA
SANTA BARBARA, CA (September 26, 2013) -- MoveCU, the first website to grade credit unions for consumer desirability announced its latest review of the nation’s credit unions. The first 8 of the Top 10 were no larger than $59 million in assets. This is based on Federal Government data as of June 2013 and it supports MoveCU’s first review in December 2012, where the Top 5 averaged just $31 million in assets. The website’s Top 100 list can be found at http://www.movecu.com/Top100.
Bigger Isn’t Always Better, But Evidently Des Moines Is
MoveCU quickly finds, maps and grades credit unions based on a zip code or city name. As of June 2013, MoveCU rated $29 million Capitol View (Des Moines, IA) and $41 million Des Moines Police Officers credit unions as the top rated. They were previously #2 and #4 respectively, in the website’s December 2012 review. Little Rock Fire Department (Little Rock, AR) slipped from its previous #1 spot to #3. The $4.5 million Decatur Policemen (Decatur, IL) was rated at #4 and the $6.0 million Revere Firefighters (Revere, MA) completed the Top 5 lisiting. “This proves two things” says website co-founder Kevin Dawson, “one is that bigger is not always better and two, credit unions that can completely focus on the needs of their members are very, very desirable.” Continued Dawson, “and whatever they are doing in Des Moines is working.”
Powered by the CU-Shoppersm Search Engine
The heart of the website is MoveCU’s proprietary CU-Shopper© search engine, which uses NCUA 5300 Call Report data to analyze every credit union in the nation. Unlike financial rating agencies, CU-Shopper uses a 15-point matrix concentrating on price, quality and convenience factors, as it relates to consumer desirability. “We purposely devised a consumer-centric scale” said Dawson, who continued “we find the credit unions who are most likely to provide the best consumer experience, based on the overall value they give their members.”
