JACKSON, MI (September 13, 2013) -- American 1 Credit Union recently promoted two internal employees, and hired one additional manager at the growing financial institution.
Dennis Wendorf has been promoted to the Director of Research and Development. Wendorf graduated from Michigan State University in 1993 and then began his journey at American 1 in April of 1995. Wendorf has had numerous roles at the credit union over the past 15 years including member service, loan department, teller supervisor and training. Wendorf’s new position will focus on enhancing, developing and implementing new products and services for the American 1 membership.
Janelle Merritt was promoted to Director of Training after serving as one of American 1’s Staff Trainers for more than 11 years. Hired in 2000, Merritt worked directly with members for two years before moving on to the training department. Merritt’s mission as the new Director of Training is to effectively educate staff who will in turn offer our members the excellent service that they deserve. Merritt’s enthusiasm and passion for the credit union is contagious and her new role will allow her to play an integral role in developing a strong American 1 team for members and the community.
Cheryl Schantz was welcomed to the credit union team as the Director of Human Resources. Schantz comes with a wealth of experience within the financial services industry. Having spent the last 25 years at Citizens Bank (and formally Republic Bank) she held a variety of positions, most recently as a Senior Vice President and has always focused on creating a great service experience and exceeding the expectations of the clients and employees. As a lifelong resident of Jackson County, Schantz’s driving force to join American 1 is a desire to be part of a local organization that supports and gives back to the communities it serves. Schantz brings experience in employee relations and coaching, organizational management, training and strategic planning.
