DES MOINES, IA (July 10, 2013) -- The Members Group (TMG) is presenting a complimentary webinar, “The Future of Payments,” for financial institutions (FIs) on Thursday, July 18. Hosted by TMG Vice President of Sales Brian Scott, the hour-long event will provide insight on three ”burning questions” on the minds of FI payments leaders: 1) How will we compete with some of the new entrants to the payments marketplace; 2) How is EMV going to impact our FI; and 3) How are new and intensifying regulations going to change our FI’s ability to serve customers?
“As new entrants and new technology permeate the payments industry, FIs must look for technology that will allow their company brands to stay front and center,” said Scott. “Also, FIs need to demonstrate that their products and services are evolving alongside consumers’ needs. As merchants vary greatly in terms of what they accept and don’t, FIs need to be right there with the consumer, enabling easy, consistent access to their money. This relationship is also critical as commerce moves across a variety of channels, including P2P, in-store, online and mobile.”
During the webinar, Scott will walk through several strategies FIs can employ to better meet the changing payments needs of consumers, including opportunities with prepaid, near field communication (NFC) and data collection and analysis. Other topics Scott will cover during the webinar include:
- Mobile payments opportunities that exist for FIs
- The impact of companies such as Apple, Google and Walmart on the payments space
- Emerging trends from other countries that may soon influence the U.S. market
Scott will also emphasize to attendees that, even though these technologies and products are still emerging, the “wait and see” model is not advised. “To begin to learn, FIs have to test hypotheses, learn from their customers and align their core competencies with new payments offerings,” said Scott in a pre-webinar podcast.
