MADISON, WI (May 29, 2013) Summit Credit Union’s “Inspiration Branch” received two prestigious recognitions: Best Retail Renovation and Best Small Project at the 2013 In Business Commercial Design Awards on May 7 in Madison.
Kim Sponem, president/CEO of Summit Credit Union along with architect, Peter Tan of Strang, Inc. accepted the awards at the sixth-annual Commercial Design Awards, which recognizes the state of architecture and commercial development in Madison and Wisconsin.
“In building the Inspiration Branch, we re-imagined what’s possible to support our members’ financial wellness,” said Sponem. “It’s truly an honor to receive these awards and be recognized for helping our members bring their dreams to life in a dramatic, cost-effective and innovative way.”
Stemming from a traditional branch built in 2000, Summit transformed the space into a virtual “stage” in January 2013 for people to find and identify their ambitions or goals, and inspire them to take action on their dreams. Flowing from one true-to-life, 3-D scenario to another, the branch is the first-of-its-kind, initially concepted more than two years ago by Sponem and Becky Gerothanas, senior VP of operations.
In addition to being a fun, inspirational environment, the branch continues to offer all of the financial services and transactions of a traditional branch.
