WASHINGTON, DC (May 22, 2013) The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) announced today the promotion of Anthony Demangone to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Demangone had been senior vice president and COO.

He has earned the respect of NAFCU’s staff, board and members, and I know he will continue to be a tremendous asset to NAFCU in the years ahead.”
Demangone is well-known to credit unions as an expert on compliance issues and as the creator of NAFCU’s popular management blog, Musings from the CU Suite, and prior to that, the Compliance Blog. As EVP/COO, he oversees NAFCU’s operations, finance, events, education and member services areas. During his tenure, he has worked to expand NAFCU’s webcast and online training offerings.
Prior to being named SVP/COO, Demangone was vice president of regulatory compliance. During that time, he led a staff of compliance attorneys and managed the day-to-day affairs of NAFCU’s compliance assistance program. He also launched NAFCU’s online training program and the Credit Union Compliance GPS.
Prior to joining NAFCU in 2004, Demangone was an attorney with Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP, and before that with Keller and Heckman, LLP, both in Washington, D.C.
Prior to his legal work, Demangone served as member services supervisor at Congressional FCU in Washington, where he was responsible for hiring and training personnel, and assisting in the oversight of the credit union’s call center.
Demangone earned his law degree from George Mason University and holds a bachelor’s degree in international politics from the Pennsylvania State University.
