America’s Credit Unions Sponsor USA Track & Field Women’s 10 Mile Championship Hosted by the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run

WASHINGTON, DC (February 15, 2013) – Credit Union Miracle Day, the sponsor group of a Family of Races, in cooperation with Credit Union National Association and National Association of Federal Credit Unions, has secured the naming rights of the USA Track & Field Women’s 10 Mile Championship designation for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run® being held on April 7 in Washington, D.C. The championship name will say it is Presented by America’s Credit Unions.

“We are delighted to be connected with this nationally recognized women’s sporting competition,” said Charlie Mallon, President/CEO of Congressional Federal Credit Union and Chairman of the Credit Union Race Committee for the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. “This designation elevates not only this world-class running event, it also raises awareness of credit unions’ commitment to serving their 95 member-owners and communities.”

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is also known as the “Runner’s Rite of Spring.” Over 15,000 runners, including over 900 Capitol Hill staffers, compete along a fast, flat route around the iconic memorials in the nation’s capital.

Since becoming the title sponsors of races in 2002, Credit Union Miracle Day, a collaboration of 86 credit unions and 59 business partners, including lead partner PSCU, has donated over $5.5 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country, under the umbrella of Credit Unions for Kids. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is an alliance of premier children’s hospitals which treat 17 million critically ill children annually, regardless of their ability to pay.

The Family of Races also includes the Credit Union SacTown Ten-Mile Run in Sacramento, California, and two runs for our troops overseas: Camp Arifjan in Kuwait and Wiesbaden Army Garrison in Germany.

Credit unions and their business partners can support the Family of Races benefitting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals by becoming a sponsor. Charity race entries into the sold-out Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run are available for those who raise $500 or more by March 1. Visit www.miracleday.org.

Credit Union Miracle Day is the 2013 recipient of the National Credit Union Foundation’s Outstanding Program Award.
