Centra Purchases Columbus Property

Making another significant investment in the Columbus, IN community, Centra Credit Union recently purchased west side property to house administrative and support staff. “We are fortunate that as we have outgrown our facilities, this wonderful location became available to us,” said Doug Harris, Centra President. “Centra has outpaced national growth trends and looks forward to another very positive year of growth ahead.”

Centra Credit Union is the largest locally owned and headquartered financial institution in Columbus. The organization maintains assets of $1.1 billion and employs 285 individuals throughout central and southern Indiana. Since 2006, Centra has expanded its workforce by more than 18 percent. Five new positions are also planned for 2013. “We have simply outgrown the space we currently have, which is an excellent problem to have,” added Harris. “With 18,000 square feet, this building will house about 60 employees, will serve as the company’s administrative headquarters, training and community education site, and will house other support positions as well. Centra is pleased to play a major role in providing financial services in Columbus, and we obviously intend to continue to be highly vested in the Columbus community.”

Centra plans to renovate the space during the first quarter of this year, occupying the building in the second quarter. Additional renovations are planned for later in the year to further utilize the space to its fullest.

“As Centra grows, one thing remains constant and very important to us,” explained Harris. “Because we are locally owned by the people who bank with us, we are committed to putting their financial needs first and to remaining local to the communities we serve. Anyone in those communities can bank with Centra.”

“Most of all, we want to thank our members and employees for the strong performance and growth we have experienced,” Harris added. “They are the ones who have supported this organization through the years and who have precipitated the need for more space. We continue to add new individuals to the Centra ‘family,’ and we will continue to focus on providing solutions for our members’ financial needs.”
