Former VP of Member Services brings more than 20 years of experience to new role
Portland, Ore., January 15, 2013–Unitus Community Credit Union, a Portland-based credit union with nearly 80,000 members, announced that Jason Werts has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Werts will continue to work closely with President and CEO Patricia Smith to ensure the strategic direction and overall quality of operations are appropriately executed across three frontline divisions: member service experience, lending, and planning/business development.
Werts, who originally joined Unitus in 2006, previously served as the credit union’s Vice President of Member Services. Prior to joining Unitus, Werts was a long-time vice president at Wells Fargo and brings more than two decades of financial services industry experience to his new position.

Werts is an active member and leader with several key credit union industry groups, including the Northwest Credit Union Association, the Filene Research Institute and the Financial Service Centers Cooperative. Werts holds an M.B.A from Portland State University and a B.A. from the University of Puget Sound.
