SAN ANTONIO--Air Force Federal Credit Union (Air Force FCU) held a grand opening of the new 3009 branch on Monday, November 26, 2012. The branch, located at 6000 FM 3009 Schertz, TX 78154, opened its doors with a special ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 am.
Schertz Mayor Michael Carpenter, in his first official capacity as newly elected mayor, addressed the crowd to kick off the event. Schertz Chamber of Commerce President Maggie Titterington and the chamber ambassadors then presented Air Force FCU Vice Chairman James Goodgion, III and President/CEO Bob Glenn with a special plaque and coin commemorating the branch opening.
“Today is an exciting day for us,” said Glenn on the opening of Air Force FCU’s eighth branch. “We bring something very unique to this market—a passion for service excellence, along with a very strong value added proposition in our products and services. “
Those services include a 24/7/365 member contact center, live chat, new online banking, mobile apps and deposits. These remote services were developed to give our members, who are located in all 50 states and base installations worldwide, access to their accounts. But another main focus of Air Force FCU is to invest in branch expansion to provide personal service.
Air Force FCU’s 3009 branch is conveniently located off I-35 and FM 3009 in the Schertz Center. This branch is a continuation of the credit union’s commitment to members and the military community at Joint Base San Antonio—Randolph and the north side of San Antonio to provide branches and the personal service they request.
“Our mission is to be the one financial institution that best understands and meets the needs of our members wherever they are,” said Vice Chairman Goodgion. “However, we do not want to get away from the personal service and convenience that our members enjoy and our staff provides. This branch will meet that need for you.”
After the ribbon cutting ceremonies, the festivities continued with food, refreshments and giveaways. Members who applied for a loan or opened an account during the grand opening were allowed to enter a money booth for cash and prizes. A special appearance was made by San Antonio Mission’s mascot the Ballapeno, who entertained guests during the lunch hour. Country station Y100 topped off the day with a live remote broadcast from 3 pm to 5 pm with morning personality Jeff Roper.
The 3009 Branch Manager, Awilda Durand, heads a staff of six employees and offers members a full range of financial products and services. The branch opened for business on Tuesday, November 13th and hours are Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. A 24-hour ATM is available to all.
