NCUA Ranked as a “Top Performer” by OPM

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Nov. 21, 2012) – The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has soared in the rankings of the 2012 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM). NCUA now ranks among the top four performers of 37 comparable federal agencies.

“Since my first day as Chairman, one of my top priorities has been to make NCUA an employer of choice,” NCUA Board Chairman Debbie Matz said. “More than 93 million credit union members depend on NCUA to keep their money safe. To do that requires a dynamic workforce that has the tools, training and support needed to fulfill our responsibilities. We have worked diligently to create an environment of open communications, mutual respect and trust. I am extremely gratified that our workforce recognizes these efforts.”
NCUA scored among the top four of 37 federal departments and agencies with more than 1,000 employees in each survey category of the Human Capital Assessment and Accountability Framework. Data also indicate NCUA showed some of the strongest improvement in many of the areas measured by the survey.
Notable improvements for NCUA include:
  • Ranking fourth in “Leadership and Knowledge Management,” up from 17th in 2011.
  • Ranking fifth in “Employee Engagement,” a measure of how work provides meaning to employees and opportunities to grow professionally, one of the largest two-year increases.
  • Ranking fourth for “Global Satisfaction,” a measure of employees’ satisfaction with their jobs and their organization as a good place to work, up from 14th in 2011.
  •  Improving in all 11 items assessing employee “Supervision.”
  • Demonstrating sizable “Leadership” gains.

Additionally, NCUA:

  • Ranked third in “Job Satisfaction,” up from fifth in the 2011 survey.
  • Ranked fourth in “Talent Management,” up from sixth in 2011.
  • Maintained a fourth-place ranking in “Results-Oriented Performance Culture.”

“Our employees are our most valuable asset,” Chairman Matz added. “I take great pride knowing that we not only have a talented, hard-working staff, but that they enjoy working here and are always looking for ways to do their jobs better.”

Key findings from the survey of NCUA staff also showed that:
