Summit Helps Women Step Boldly Into Their First Million

‘Red SHOES’ program offers guidance, tools, support to get there

MADISON, Wis. – Summit Credit Union, focusing on women 20 to 50, has created an exclusive new program to help members step boldly into their first million. Based on a model similar to Weight Watchers®, Summit has combined tools, information and support to create a complete branded program designed for members who are ready to take control of their financial lives, called “Red SHOES.”

A fee-based program, Red SHOES includes a workbook with the look of a women’s magazine, an online financial boutique that includes interactive tools, inspiring messages and education, plus access to a Red SHOES coach and exclusive member events. All combined, the program gives members well-defined steps, tools, encouragement and support to make smart money decisions and to achieve financial goals.

“We know our members look to us for financial guidance and for ways to make more things possible in their lives,” said Kim Sponem, president/CEO at Summit Credit Union.  “We also know many people prefer to make changes within a defined program, so we built one. One of our core values is to jump. We did.”

“It took approximately 18 months of credit-union-wide innovation and collaboration to create Red SHOES and less than 72 hours to fill the initial openings for member participation,” said Sponem.

During the early phase, October 2012 through early January 2013, 100 members are participating for free and have agreed to provide feedback throughout the three-month period. Summit plans to make any needed adjustments in the program before a full launch in early 2013.

“A brand new concept in financial wellness required innovative thinking,” said Sponem, “We came up with the name ‘Red SHOES’ because it stands out as a representation of confidence, ties to our very specific ‘steps’ and appeals to our female target market.”

The fee to participate in the program when it rolls out is still being determined.
