Financial Partners Among First Credit Unions in Los Angeles Area to Offer Free Mobile Bill Pay Service

Downey, CA – November 19, 2012Financial Partners Credit Union ($793 million; 50,056 members; Downey, CA) has experienced many firsts in its history. So being one of the first credit unions in the Los Angeles area to offer a mobile bill pay application to its members is nothing new to the forward-thinking financial institution. Launching its free mobile bill pay app November 16, 2012, FPCU members now have the capabilities to pay their bills anywhere, anytime using their smartphone.

FPCU’s mobile bill pay application is available on any of today’s mobile apps on iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and the credit union’s mobile site: m.fpcu.org.

According to FPCU President and CEO Nader Moghaddam, members have been paying bills using online banking for sometime now. But they did not have this convenient function with mobile applications – which is growing more prevalent in today’s financial technology services. “Since the members have been asking for it, now they have it,” he says.

FPCU’s mobile bill pay is yet another proactive offering in the credit union’s service suite solidifying its position as a financial technology leader. It was one of the first credit unions in Southern California to offer mobile check deposit, innovative online banking services, and much more.

“It is the progressive nature of our credit union that continues to meet the growing technology needs of our members,” Moghaddam adds. “Our mobile bill pay service is just one component in that forward-thinking path.”

FPCU’s mobile bill pay has the same capabilities for members who also use online banking’s bill payment – only much more convenient via their mobile phone. Here are some of the capabilities…

  • Members pay bills when they want — on payday, the payment due date or whenever they choose (preferably prior to the due date).
  • Members can transfer funds between FPCU accounts or even accounts at other financial institutions.
  • Members can schedule automatic or recurring payments for recurring bills such as utilities and loans.
  • Members can pay almost anyone through bill pay, including family and friends, while FPCU pays for the stamp.

“We see this increased convenience of paying bills from your smartphone creating more happy members,” Moghaddam says. “It’s just another way we make banking easy for the members at FPCU – which adds more value to our credit union.”
