EUGENE, Ore. - Oregon Community Credit Union (OCCU) has been honored by the Portland Business Journal as one of Oregon’s Healthiest Employers. OCCU placed 13th among companies with 100-499 employees. This award recognizes a company’s dedication to its corporate wellness program.
To be considered for Oregon’s Healthiest Employers list, businesses conduct a lengthy annual staff survey which determines the top companies’ commitment to creating a healthy workplace. It looks closely at a company’s benefits, programs, and general outlook on wellness. OCCU’s employee wellness program continues to grow stronger each year.
OCCU has a Wellness Committee that meets once a month to discuss and plan wellness initiatives. The committee organizes group activities, such as bike rides and hikes, which are open to all employees as well as friends and family. They also offer various reimbursement programs and incentives to motivate employees to participate in organized races or join a fitness center. The Credit Union’s most successful and impactful program is their annual Fitness Challenge. The challenge generates friendly competition among coworkers while encouraging a healthy lifestyle.
“At Oregon Community Credit Union we believe in work-life balance. We aim to have healthy, productive, and happy employees and our wellness program helps us get there,” said Kim Slaughter, HR Representative.
