Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union Creates Buzz With a “Golden Ticket” Opportunity

Columbia, SCCarolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union has partnered with the University of South Carolina student run newspaper The Daily Gamecock for a 13 week promotion called The Garnet Ticket. The campaign is loosely based on the Golden Ticket made famous in the film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Since late August a Garnet Ticket has been placed in one of the 50,000 daily newspapers each week. The recipient is directed to return the Garnet Ticket to the newly-opened Carolina Collegiate FCU branch on the University of South Carolina campus for a cash prize from Carolina Collegiate and prizes from other sponsors.

"We were looking for a unique way to create excitement within the student community for our new branch on campus" said Anne Shivers, CEO of Carolina Collegiate FCU. "We knew that this was not a ‘build it and they will come’ kind of project. We needed to get students talking about us" Shivers said.

So far, the number of student accounts opened has far exceeded that previous years. That’s due to both the Garnet Ticket promotion
and the new student-run branch on the USC campus. "It's a different banking experience when you can walk into a branch that is designed to be student-friendly and run by your peers" Shivers said.

The Garnet Ticket promotion was developed by your marketing co. in cooperation with The Daily Gamecock.
