Montgomery County Employees Federal Credit Union Selected as Recipient of the Gazette of Politics and Business Fifth Annual Exceptional 53 Business Awards

October 31, 2012 – Gaithersburg, MD – The Gazette of Politics and Business released its list of the 53 top businesses and organizations in the State of Maryland. The program, produced by The Gazette P&B, acknowledges the top 53 businesses and organizations in Maryland based on criteria that included the recipient company’s noteworthy product or service innovations, community service efforts, and how the companies portrayed themselves as “good places to work.”

The fifth annual awards ceremony, held Thursday, October, 25th, 2012 at the Hilton Hotel in Gaithersburg, attracted a large crowd of appreciative attendees eager to celebrate the accomplishments of the top 53 companies. The awards ceremony was sponsored by Montgomery College, Hughes Network Systems, LLC, Montgomery County Commuter Services, and Rockville Economic Development, Inc. and included a lavish cocktail reception and networking activities at the hotel..

“To make the 53 list is a great accomplishment,” said Trina Lapier, publisher of The Gazette P&B.  “This year’s list features companies from the State of Maryland that have had success in a wide variety of fields, and each company deserved recognition of their accomplishments.” Montgomery County Employees EFCU was profiled in a special section as part of the Friday October 26th, 2012 edition of The Gazette of Politics and Business.

MC EFCU was recognized for its exceptional growth, achieving an increase in new memberships of over 82% during the last three years, as well as its community service programs including supporting one of its members, Marshal Moneymaker, a Montgomery County Firefighter, who lost three sisters to breast cancer. Marshal and his wife Shannon have dedicated their lives to breast cancer awareness. MC EFCU, as a result of a very successful VISA balance transfer program was able to make a significant contribution to Marshal and Shannon’s “For 3 Sisters” organization. In addition to MC EFCU’s growth and community service contributions, MC EFCU was recognized for innovation in leveraging the structural benefits of the credit union industry with the latest in financial industry technologies to provide MC EFCU members with financial services, as convenient as the largest banks and, in most cases, providing better rates on loans and deposits, while at the same time providing the superior member service that credit unions are well known for.
