Belvoir Federal Was Prepared For Hurricane Sandy

Woodbridge, VA, October 30, 2012  - Belvoir Federal Credit Union was prepared for the Category 1 Hurricane Sandy, which devastated several states along the east coast, with a newly installed, natural gas line generator.

Since the credit union never lost power, the use of BIGSBY (Belvoir Internal Generator Security Backup, Yes!) the generator was not needed for this hurricane. However, Belvoir Federal was prepared in case of power outages.

Belvoir Federal managed to keep its doors open and operating at the Woodbridge branch on Monday, October 29, 2012 until 3:00PM and resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. “With BISGBY now installed, we are able to serve our members even in the event of a power outage,” stated Tisha Wallace, Chief Operating Officer of Belvoir Federal.

Belvoir Federal also took precautions to notify members via their Web site and Facebook page of continual updates throughout the Hurricane regarding the branches operating status. Through these modern forms of communication, members were able to learn if they could access their financial institution at the branches.

Throughout Hurricane Sandy, Belvoir Federal stood prepared and ready to serve their members.
