KEMBA Credit Union’s Karla Salisbury Receives Professional Achievement Award

Karla Salisbury, President/CEO of KEMBA CU, is the Indiana Credit Union League’s (ICUL) 2012 recipient of the Professional Achievement Award. The presentation was made at the Chairman’s Awards Banquet on Oct. 5 as part of a special event during the League’s statewide convention.

Salisbury has been president of the credit union for 10 years. Headquartered on the east side of Indianapolis, KEMBA CU was originally established to serve local Kroger Company employees and their families, but has expanded to provide service to those who live or work in the Indianapolis Metropolitan area.

Her support of the credit union business and its organizations is extensive. She is the past Chairman and a director of the Indiana Credit Union Foundation serving since 2005 and is also a longtime member of the ICUL Convention Committee. She is a member of the Credit Union Executives Society and holds three professional designations from that group. Salisbury is a board member for the Central Chapter of Credit Unions and is a past chairman of that group. She is also a past city host of the Kroger Family Credit Union Group and she also reaches out to elected officials to advocate for credit unions.

Outside the credit union business Salisbury is a member of Beta Sigma Phi Professional sorority where she is a past City Woman of the Year. She is also active in Beech Grove Relay for Life and Komen Indy Race for the Cure.

The Professional Achievement Award recipient is chosen each year from nominees around the state. Individuals are nominated for their professional accomplishments, their commitment to the credit union movement and the contributions they make to their credit union and community.
