FAIRFAX, Va., October 19, 2012 — Apple Federal Credit Union has kicked off its 4th Annual Food Drive benefiting the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network (BRAFB) to help provide for Winchester, VA area residents in need. Through Friday, November 16, 2012, Apple will be accepting non-perishable food item donations; critically needed items include canned meats, soup and vegetables, peanut butter, boxed pasta, rice, and cereal. Donations can be dropped off at Apple FCU Winchester branches:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wednesday, 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

According to the Food Bank, over 1 in 10 people in the Blue Ridge region can’t take their next meal for granted. And 4 in 10 of these are children. Last year, more than 17 million meals were delivered to hungry families across the Blue Ridge, and its’ expected that even more will be delivered this year.
