Madison, Wis. – The CUNA HR/TD Council announces their newest white paper, “The Coming Retirement Gap,” written by Lucy Harr.
Retirement has become a growing concern for the employees themselves, for the organization’s HR and senior management, and for employees looking to rise in the ranks of the organization. Many organizations, including credit unions are experiencing a gap when it comes to retirement.
This white paper evaluates the factors contributing to the gap and the implications and opportunities that exist for addressing the gap, including:
- Succession plans
- Preservation of credit union and cooperative philosophy
- Management of job functions
- Adequacy of benefit plans
Several suggestions are made for bridging the gap and finding solutions that fit the credit union’s staffing, knowledge, and expertise, as well as the employee’s desire to maintain employment, benefits. One thing is certain: human resources, training, and development staff play a pivotal role in ensuring the credit union’s needs are being met and senior management and the board of directors are informed of the options available.
CUNA Council members are entitled to complimentary copies of these and more than 300 white papers; non-members may purchase the white papers for a price of $50 per copy.
The papers are available online in the white paper section of www.cunacouncils.org – select the “HR/TD” tab for both.
