Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions celebrates 2025 ICUDE graduates

9 global leaders honored for commitment to cooperative impact

he Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions (WFCU) proudly welcomes nine new professionals into the global credit union community as part of the International Credit Union Development Educators (ICUDEs) Class of 2025.

This esteemed designation recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to cooperative values, global engagement and the advancement of financial inclusion.

This year's class brings together professionals from across Africa, the Caribbean and the United States—reflecting the collaborative spirit and cross-cultural strength that define the credit union movement.

The 2025 ICUDE honorees include:

Africa

  • Foday Sanyang, National Association of Cooperative Credit Unions, Gambia.
  • John Okumu Juma, Kenya Police SACCO, Kenya.

Caribbean

  • Curlene Marcelle-Mars, COPOS Credit Union Co-Operative Society Ltd., Trinidad & Tobago.
  • Shelly Slater, Neal & Massey Credit Union Co-Operative Society Ltd., Trinidad & Tobago.
  • Alin Verneuil, St. Lucia Worker’s Credit Union Ltd., St. Lucia.

United States

  • Julie Gamblin, True Sky Credit Union.
  • James Gagliano, Lanco Federal Credit Union.
  • Karen Madry, Afena Federal Credit Union.
  • Randy Smith, CUInsight.

To earn the ICUDE title, each graduate must complete a national or regional Development Education (DE) program and demonstrate meaningful international engagement that strengthens the cooperative movement worldwide.

The ICUDE Class of 2025 will be formally recognized at the Global DE Social, hosted during the World Credit Union Conference (WCUC) in Stockholm, Sweden this July. This global gathering of DEs celebrates international connections, shared values and the impact of purpose-driven leadership.

  • CanadaDE, operated by the International Centre of Co-op Management (ICCM) at Saint Mary’s University.
  • Caribbean DE (CaribDE).
  • European DE (DEEU), operated by the Association of British Credit Unions, Ltd. (ABCUL).
  • Philippines DE, operated by VICTO National.
  • United States DE, operated by the National Credit Union Foundation.
