This spring, Marine Credit Union (MCU) is advancing financial capabilities across Wisconsin by hosting a series of educational events in two key communities. From Racine to Eau Claire, these workshops are designed to meet people where they are in their financial journeys, offering practical tools and knowledge to build a brighter financial future.
In Racine, MCU is partnering with the Racine Public Library to deliver a three-part "Chart Your Course" financial empowerment series that helps people build financial confidence through knowledge and planning. In Eau Claire, MCU is participating in Money Smart Wisconsin Week (April 5–12) with a variety of events and partnerships designed to engage children, teens, and families in foundational financial education.
Racine Financial Empowerment Workshop Series
MCU will host a series of three financial empowerment workshops at the Racine Public Library in April and May. The interactive, in-person sessions will focus on financial wellness, understanding credit, goal setting, and more.
"We know financial challenges can feel overwhelming, but we also believe everyone deserves the tools to take control of their finances," said Aaron McCollum, Racine Community Lead at MCU. "These workshops are about creating a safe, welcoming space where people can feel supported in building financial confidence."

May 15, 5:00 – 7:00 PM: Session Three: Chart Your Course: Understanding Credit and Building Your Financial Foundation
May 21, 5:00 – 7:00 PM: Session Four: Chart Your Course: How to Set Financial Goals and Achieve Them
Money Smart Wisconsin Week Activities
During National Financial Literacy Awareness Month each April, Money Smart Wisconsin embarks on a statewide initiative to promote personal financial education for people of all ages.
"Financial literacy is a lifelong journey that begins early and grows with an individual," said Marie Jacobsen, Eau Claire Community Lead for MCU. "By partnering with local organizations and showing up in these community spaces, we're hoping to make financial education more accessible and engaging for all ages."
April 10, 3:00 PM: Teen Education at Evolving Wellness Safe Haven Teen Wellness Center
MCU will join an after-school connection group at the Teen Wellness Center, empowering teens who are already showing leadership in their community with essential budgeting and financial planning skills.
April 11, 10:00 AM: Partnership with Royal Credit Union and Eau Claire Children's Museum
MCU will partner with Royal Credit Union to host a Money Smart Wisconsin "The Big Read" activity featuring Deena's Lucky Penny by Matt Matters.
April 6 and 12: Community Outreach at YMCA Healthy Kids Expos in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls
MCU will offer fun, age-appropriate financial education tools for families attending two free community events at the Eau Claire YMCA on April 6 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM and at the Chippewa Falls YMCA on April 12 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
