WASHINGTON – As legislative debate impacting credit unions continues to heat up on Capitol Hill, NAFCU is encouraging credit unions to work together to ensure the industry is not negatively impacted—and is making it easy and affordable for them to do so. The association is offering all credit unions, regardless of trade association affiliation, an extraordinary opportunity to register for its 2011 Congressional Caucus at the NAFCU membership rate.

The Congressional Caucus will be held at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel, Sept. 18-21.

“Key issues of the industry such as the credit union tax exemption, member business lending, data security and housing finance reform have become more important than ever before, so we want to give all credit unions ample opportunity to be part of the process and make their voices heard,” said NAFCU President Fred Becker. “Everyone—from regular Caucus attendees to those in town that week for the Hike the Hill meeting—will benefit from insights of the high-caliber speakers and invaluable access to peers and congressional leaders.”

Numerous lawmakers and regulators, including NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz and Board Members Gigi Hyland and Michael Fryzel, will discuss the industry’s most pressing legislative and regulatory matters. Terry McAuliffe, Democratic party leader and political advisor, will deliver the keynote address.
