Florida Credit Union Association honors Former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner as 2024 Lawmaker of the Year

The Florida Credit Union Association, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions, proudly recognizes former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner as the recipient of the 2024 State Lawmaker of the Year Award in Florida.

“Speaker Renner’s dedication to advancing credit union priorities, particularly Public Deposits legislation in 2024, demonstrates his unwavering commitment to standing alongside credit unions and their members,” said Christopher Hodge, Senior Director of Governmental Affairs for The League and the Florida Credit Union Association. “His leadership and determination ensured that this issue remained at the forefront of the legislative agenda, and we are deeply grateful for his support.”

Speaker Renner’s parents embodied servant leadership, instilling in him a deep love for community from a young age—his father through his role as a pastor and his mother through her service as a public school teacher. Speaker Renner is dedicated to developing a top-tier education system that equips students for successful careers and promising futures.  He embodies a lifetime of service in the United States Navy, state prosecutor, Florida Legislator, and soon to be an appointed member of the Florida State University System’s Board of Governors.
