The 2025 Florida Advocacy Conference, hosted by the Florida Credit Union Association, a subsidiary of The League of Credit Unions & Affiliates, successfully brought together 87 attendees from across the Sunshine State.
The conference featured an engaging lineup of speakers, including Attorney General James Uthmeier, who shared brief remarks about the impact credit unions have on Florida’s economy. Michael Yaworsky, Florida’s Insurance Commissioner, provided an in-depth analysis of the state’s evolving insurance market. Participants also heard from Ben Brinkley, Florida Office of Financial Regulation’s Director of the Division of Financial Institutions, on the latest regulatory developments impacting credit unions.
“The Florida Advocacy Conference is a critical platform for credit union leaders to directly connect with policymakers and advocate for the needs of our industry,” said Christopher Hodge, Senior Director of Governmental Affairs in Florida at The League. “We are committed to ensuring that credit unions have a strong voice in Tallahassee, and this event is another steppingstone towards that dedication.”
A significant announcement of The League’s new initiative, F.I.G.H.T. (Financial Institutions Against Human Trafficking) was also made during this conference. The initiative will focus on industry commitment, frontline staff training, law enforcement partnerships, and trauma-informed survivor support. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier commended The League’s efforts and pledged his office’s continued collaboration.
