MADISON, Wis. – The Council Forum recently met in Washington, DC with CUNA president & CEO Bill Cheney as well as members of CUNA’s senior staff, where they discussed the results of the mid-term elections, the implications for credit unions and current legislative and regulatory priorities.
While there, the group recognized outgoing chair, Nader Moghaddam, president & CEO of Financial Partners FCU for his leadership of the Forum during the past two years. With Moghaddam’s chairmanship term completed, current Forum vice chair Erin Mendez, EVP & COO of SchoolsFirst FCU takes over as the new chair of the Council Forum and Rudy Pereira, SVP Operations and Technology at Alliant CU takes over as vice chair of the group.
During the Course of their two day meeting, the Forum also spent time at NCUA, where they met with the agency’s executive director Dave Marrquis as well as deputy director Larry Fazio and Melinda Love, head of Exam and Insurance.
The Council Forum is the over-arching leadership group of the CUNA Councils. It is comprised of two representatives from each of the six CUNA Councils, plus an elected chair and vice chair. CUNA Councils is the largest professional society for credit union executives, with nearly 5,000 members at credit unions large and small across America.
