CFPB Director Cordray Joins NAFCU For Special April 24 Webcast

WASHINGTON – Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Director Richard Cordray will tell credit unions his vision for the new agency and provide insight on how the CFPB will impact credit unions in the National Association of Federal Credit Unions’ (NAFCU) special April 24 webcast. The program will broadcast live from the NAFCU studio at its headquarters in Arlington, Va. from 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. EDT.

The webcast is free and open to all credit unions, regardless of membership or charter type. Participants can register by calling 800-344-5580 or at www.nafcu.org/cordrayapril2012.

“As the CFPB’s role continues to evolve, NAFCU appreciates our ongoing dialogue with the agency,” said NAFCU President and CEO Fred R. Becker.  “This special webcast will give all credit unions a valuable opportunity to continue the conversation with Director Cordray about what to expect from the agency, including the rules and regulations that will affect them the most.”

Participants will have an opportunity to ask Cordray questions directly during the webcast, which will be moderated by NAFCU General Counsel and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs Carrie Hunt.

Cordray was appointed director of the CFPB on January 4 after serving as chief of the agency’s enforcement division. Prior to that, he served as attorney general for Ohio.

The National Association of Federal Credit Unions is the only national organization that focuses exclusively on federal issues affecting credit unions, representing its members before the federal government and the public.
