DCUC applauds Senate leadership, urges fair regulatory approach for FHFA and CFPB nominees

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 26, 2025) |

Today, the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC) thanked Senate  Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-SC) and Ranking  Member Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for their leadership in the nomination hearings for the  incoming Directors of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and the Consumer Financial  Protection Bureau (CFPB).

Given the significant role these agencies play in financial stability and access to credit, DCUC  urged the Committee to ensure that nominees prioritize a balanced regulatory environment that  supports military service members, veterans, and their families.

In its letter, DCUC shared key questions to be asked of the nominees for the Committee's consideration, focusing on regulatory relief, access to affordable homeownership, and  preservation of essential financial services for military families, to ensure credit unions have a  meaningful voice in policy decisions.

“DCUC appreciates the Committee’s ongoing commitment to financial institutions that serve the  military community, and we stand ready to work with you to ensure that any policy changes  foster a strong, service-oriented financial sector,” says Jason Stverak, DCUC Chief Advocacy  Officer.
