Abound promotes Shelley Mitchell to Executive Vice President

RADCLIFF, KY (February 7, 2025) |

Abound Credit Union, a leader in financial education focused on helping Kentucky families thrive, recently announced the promotion of Shelley Mitchell to Executive Vice President.

“I am honored to continue taking on new challenges at Abound Credit Union. Growing up in Kentucky, while having a father in the military, makes working for a Credit Union focused on these pillars especially meaningful to me. Working at Abound allows me to pursue my passion for improving the lives of our Members, Team Members and our community. I look forward to collaborating with various departments to ensure we have the right products and technology to help our members achieve financial success,” says Mitchell.
Mitchell has dedicated the past nine years to serving Abound, joining in 2016 to lead the Credit Union’s audit team before progressing to Vice President-Risk, Chief Risk and Knowledge Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and now Executive Vice President.
“Shelley has been exceptional in seeking out opportunities while also implementing solutions to make the Credit Union better for both Members and Team Members,” says Ray Springsteen, President/CEO of Abound Credit Union. “Her promotion is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and the positive impact she has had on our organization.”
Her experience prior to Abound included five years at accounting firm BKD/Forvis. Mitchell, a Hardin County native, earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees from the University of Kentucky and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). As a John Hardin High School graduate, she has a loyalty to our community and is a familiar face to many. Her work at Abound includes leading multiple board level committees, implementing new products and services, developing the risk and audit program, transforming the member solutions program, and leading the Credit Union’s core technology, digital banking technology, Member Solutions, compliance and risk, and auditing areas.
