DENVER, CO (January 28, 2025) |
Canvas Credit Union, Colorado’s third-largest credit union, is proud to announce the tremendous impact made in 2024 through an ongoing commitment to financial education, community support and volunteerism. These efforts reflect the heart of Canvas’ mission: helping Coloradans achieve wellbeing, with financial stability as a foundation.
Canvas Credit Union’s financial education initiatives reached new heights in 2024. Over the year, Canvas conducted 348 Financial Success Classes, reaching more than 8,928 students, nonprofit residents and SEG employees. In 2024, class attendance increased by an impressive 20% compared to 2023, highlighting a growing demand for financial literacy programs. Among these efforts, the My Future Money Life program stood out, hosting 96 sessions that engaged 2,336 students across 30 schools. Surveys conducted post-seminars revealed that 97% of participants felt they had gained valuable knowledge.
"Financial education gives you the freedom needed to pursue the goals that matter most to you," said Chad Shane, CEO of Canvas Credit Union. "As a financial institution, our true mission goes beyond banking—we aim to use our resources to empower communities, helping them transition from survival to lasting, holistic wellness."
The Canvas Foundation provided $285,000 in grants and donations to support four strategic pillars:
$122,000 to schools, $118,000 to family health and wellness initiatives, $22,000 to first responders and $23,000 to military organizations. Additionally, Canvas branches across the state donated $52,500 to more than 60 nonprofit organizations, further amplifying Canvas’ support for local communities.
Volunteerism is a cornerstone of Canvas culture. Last year, employees collectively logged more than 4,000 hours of service. This represents 71% of Canvas employees actively participating in various volunteer efforts across Colorado. Notable initiatives included:
● School Supply Drive, which collected 560 pounds of supplies.
● Kick-off for Kids Campaign, raising more than $30,000 for Children’s Hospital Colorado—a 36% increase from the previous year.
