Cobalt Credit Union shatters holiday giving records!

Papillion, NE (December 24, 2024) |

Cobalt Credit Union is pleased to announce that it has  surpassed its holiday-giving records this year. On December 5th, Cobalt Credit  Union announced their donation recipients as part of its 5th annual Holiday  Helping Hand campaign, which focuses on causes dedicated to providing food,  shelter, and everyday necessities.

Breaking previous records, Cobalt Credit Union generously contributed $24,000  to 24 nonprofit organizations in the communities it serves ranging from Lincoln,  Council Bluffs, Fremont, Bellevue, and others. Tara Williamson, Program Director

with CASA Sarpy County, commented on the impact Cobalt Credit Union's gift  will have such as supporting their Let Kids be Kids program, which provides  funding to foster kids participating in extracurricular activities.

The credit union partnered with Wreaths Across America at Omaha National  Cemetery, contributing $525 to honor the gravesites of those who have served.  Additionally, Cobalt supported deploying airmen and their spouses through the  97th Commander Spouse Initiative, providing curated bags filled with  thoughtful items. Moreover, Cobalt donated to the Greater Bellevue Area  Chamber of Commerce Operation Holiday Cheer for those airmen who were not  with their families during the holidays. Volunteers pack goodie bags for the  Offutt Air Force Base dormitory residents during this annual event. Lastly,  remembering children who could not be with their families, Cobalt sponsored  the Boys Town Holiday Pasta Lunch.

Joining Cobalt Credit Union in its holiday giving season, the SAC Foundation,  Cobalt Credit Union's charitable arm, allocated $750 to fulfill the holiday wishes  of 15 Offutt Air Force Base families through participation in the Offutt Angel Tree program. The SAC Foundation's commitment extended to the Eastern Nebraska  Veterans Home, where handmade ornaments were provided to residents while  credit union employees sang holiday carols. Furthermore, the foundation  supported families at Bellevue Together through Hands of Hope holiday gifts.

Cobalt Credit Union's FUEL and IDEA committees came together to provide  holiday cheer to various organizations in the community. Fuel adopted five  veterans at the Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home, providing daily essentials such

as body wash, toothpaste, shoes, and coats. FUEL also supported Ronald  McDonald House, where they helped ‘stock the store’ for families staying at the  organization. These items included toys, planners, and gift cards. Lastly, FUEL  helped the Salvation Army in their Adopt a Family campaign. These gifts went to  children of all ages. IDEA committee members volunteered their time at the  Intercultural Senior Center to sort and organize holiday meals.

Cobalt employees spent 2,200 hours volunteering throughout the year,  demonstrating their dedication to giving back to the community. The credit  union also successfully concluded its annual United Way campaign, reaching a  record close and contributing $20,392. To conclude our donation drives for the  year, the credit union supported two organizations, The Hope Center for Kids  and Heartland Family Services, collecting winter gear and hygiene items for  their clients.

"The holiday season reminds us of the values that define us, and at the heart of  the credit union movement is the philosophy of ‘People Helping People’” said  CEO and President Robin Larsen. “Together, we embody the true spirit of the  season: compassion, connection, and unwavering support for one another."
