Cornerstone Resources places Rio Grande CU new CEO

Tony Dees took the helm Sept. 9

Cornerstone Resources’ executive search and professional recruiting division has successfully placed Rio Grande Credit Union’s new CEO. Tony Dees is a credit union veteran, having joined the credit union movement in 1987 and most recently served as chief lending officer at Sandia Area Federal Credit Union.

“We are excited to welcome Tony Dees as a member of the Rio Grande Credit Union team,” said Rio Grande Credit Union Chairperson Dianne Brown. “Tony is well respected and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. We are confident, as CEO, that he will lead Rio Grande Credit Union to new heights.”

Dees said he’s honored to have been selected as CEO of Rio Grande Credit Union.

“Rio Grande Credit Union has a long history of helping our members succeed financially, and we also have a long history of volunteering and contributing to our community in a variety of ways. Unlike the large out-of-state banks and financial institutions operating in our market we are entirely focused on Albuquerque and New Mexico, to help the people of our community.”

Dees said that as a low-income designated credit union, Rio Grande CU offers programs that other financial institutions don’t.

“We are also designated as a Minority Depository Institution,” he said. “We have a strong commitment to financial education and inclusiveness. I am excited to partner with our great staff and volunteers to continue the proud tradition of serving the underserved at Rio Grande Credit Union.”

Cornerstone Resources has a proven track record of successfully matching top-tier candidates with financial institutions that align with their vision and goals. Cornerstone Resources Vice President, Executive Search Marcus Cotton said his team was honored to guide the Rio Grande Credit Union board through the selection process.

“We exhausted an extensive list of qualified candidates and the board landed on Tony Dees, a seasoned credit union executive with proven executive leadership experience,” said Cotton. “This search was an exciting journey with a successful ending. It was our pleasure to partner with and guide the board through the selection process.”
