$323,000 raised for Children’s Miracle Network at CU Cherry Blossom race

Sunday’s Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run brought runners from all over the country to the Washington, D.C., Monument grounds for an annual competition that has helped raise more than $9.5 million for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals since credit unions became the event sponsors.

“All of us at NAFCU are extremely honored to continue our partnership with this remarkable event that provides much-needed resources and support for children’s hospitals across the country,” said NAFCU President and CEO Dan Berger. “The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run exemplifies the dedication and compassion credit unions continue to share throughout their communities. We applaud the upstanding credit unions for their participation and cheer on the runners, volunteers, and participants who came together in support of our nation’s children.”

NAFCU Chair Tom DeWitt, President and CEO of State Farm Federal Credit Union, helped hold the finish-line ribbon for first-place runners in yesterday’s races. The first-place female runner was local Susanna Sullivan from Reston, Va.; the first-place male runner was Kenyan Nicholas Kosimbei – tying the course record set in 2012 with a time of 45:15.
