3 tips for going after a promotion

So, you love your job and the people you work with, but you’re still not satisfied. You just need more. If you’re looking for a promotion, here are three tips that will show you’re ready…

Leave your DNA around: This is bad advice for criminals, but if you’re working on a project with a team, the more involved you are just might show your bosses that you’re not afraid to step up and take a bigger role.

Make others better: Everyone on the team won’t be a star, but with a little help, they can take their game to the next level. Pretend you’re Steph Curry. Sure, you could score 40 points on any given night, but think about how great it is for the team when you’ve also got 20 assists on your stat sheet. Helping make your team great is good for all and it won’t stay a secret when you’re the one who’s responsible.

Be upfront about it: If you know what you want, let it be known. Bosses aren’t mind readers, so sometimes you have to help make them aware of your ambitions. And if your current position isn’t really on a path to a promotion, you may need to remind the powers that be that you’re capable of so much more than what you’re currently doing every day.
