3 money moves you won’t regret at the end of the year

Somehow February is coming to a close. Time flies and the last thing you want to do is have money regrets at the end of the year. How often towards the end of the year do you think about the things you wished you’d done? Well it might be almost spring, but it’s still the first quarter of 2021, so let’s get on it! Here are three things you won’t regret doing with your money at the end of the year…

Take retirement seriously: The maximum yearly contribution to your 401(k) account is $19,500. For a lot of us, that’s not an easy number to hit. But could you do more than you’re doing now? The answer to that question is probably yes. So even if you can’t max out your contributions in 2021, try increasing your contribution another 2-3 percentage points every year and one of these days you might actually get close.

Start living right: Even if you “pay yourself first” and are pretty good at saving money, unless you’re extremely frugal, you’re probably still spending more than you have to. Tighten up your budget in 2021 and see what kind of difference you can make in your financial situation this year. You may not love it while it’s happening, but the results could make you extremely excited about 2022.

Get the right insurance: You might say that you’re completely insured, but there may be some things you’re not thinking of. And maybe you’ve had the same auto insurance for years, but perhaps it’s time to start shopping for something better. Every year that goes by sees you getting older and insurance starts to matter more and more. Even if you’re single with no kids, you may eventually find a reason to get that life insurance you’ve been putting off.
