Community Credit Union donates $20,000 to anti-human trafficking organizations

SAN DIMAS, CA (December 14, 2018) — In response to the crisis of human trafficking, Christian Community Credit Union donated $10,000 in a matching fund towards The Freedom Challenge for their Giving Tuesday campaign to provide women and children in Bangladesh with literacy and development programs. The Credit Union also donated $10,000 in a matching fund to Rebirth Homes to support their education and counseling programs for human trafficking victims.

The funds for the donation come from the Credit Union’s “Cards that Give to Missions” program, in which a portion of the Credit Union’s interchange income (fees merchants pay to card issuers) is donated when cardholders use their Credit Union-issued credit cards for purchases.

“We stand with The Freedom Challenge and Rebirth Homes in their mission to end human trafficking and to help survivors rebuild their lives in Christ,” said David Estridge, Christian Community Credit Union Executive Vice President. “We’re proud to partner with these organizations and to support their life-changing work.”

“Freedom Challenge is thankful for the support of Christian Community Credit Union’s matching fund offer for Giving Tuesday,” said Tracy Daugherty, Director of Freedom Challenge, USA. “Because of their generosity, hundreds of vulnerable women and children in Bangladesh will be given an opportunity for literacy and skills development, disrupting the cycle of poverty and oppression. We are grateful for your partnership.”

Debbie Martis, Executive Director of Rebirth Homes, added, “So many people were inspired to give thanks to Christian Community Credit Union’s generosity. God used you to bless Rebirth Homes and invest in changed lives. Thank you!”
